Implosion and Explosion are two defences that arise in response to extreme and prolonged trauma during childhood and beyond. They are alternative defences that are both usually called Dissociation. The person who employs Implosion talks of living deep inside, underground, or in caverns and labyrinths. The person who employs Explosion, talks of being in the sky or outer space, being outside their own body.
